The Boston Police Department follows a report number format of the year followed by seven numbers. The records department may not search with the report number at this police department and may often rely more on your insured’s location and a specific location of loss. If it is determined that the damage of an accident in the state of Massachusetts is $1000.00 or less, a report is not required to be written. As always, providing as much information as is available on your report request will help in locating your report in a shorter time frame.
