Minneapolis Police Department Request

Minneapolis Police Department

The Minneapolis Police Department requires a signed release (as do all police agencies in the state) from either your insured or an involved party before releasing auto accident reports. A signed release, once received, will be matched with your report request, and we will fax both pages to the police department. If a report request is received without a signed release, you will receive a notice advising that a signed release is required, along with a fax number and e-mail address to which you can send the release when obtained.

ChoicePoint Vehicle Claims Services - available on OrderPoint

Through Vehicle Claims Services, you can instantly verify critical vehicle information. A variety of interactive reports are available to you through OrderPoint.

Gain immediate access to:

  • VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
    • Information and decoded attributes
    • Year, make and model
    • Engine size
    • Drive train type (2WD - 4WD)
    • Country of origin
    • And more!
  • Registered owner's name and address
  • Secondary owner's name and address
  • Registration state
  • Other vehicles located at the same address

Having access to these reports can also help reduce claims losses and identify inflated claims by:

  • Uncovering red flags such as vehicles registered in multiple states, vehicle damage history and costly hidden problems.
  • Exposing VIN scam indicators.
  • Identifying fraud and subrogation opportunities by determining the claim history for vehicles in question.
  • Viewing derogatory title brand indicators for vehicles that have been dismantled, damaged by flood, reconstructed, salvaged, stolen, damaged, totaled or reacquired by the manufacturer due to lemon laws.

A number of states may have restrictions surrounding what types of information can be released through our interactive reports (AR, AZ, CA, HI, IN, NH, OK, PA, VA and WA). While there may be restrictions imposed by some of these states, the information you need may be available through Carrier Discovery . Carrier Discovery is a contributory database available to contributing insurance carriers, or sponsored third parties. Carrier Discovery can help you identify critical insurance carrier information on claimants or other involved parties in an accident to assist in identifying potentially fraudulent claims.

If you have questions or would like additional information regarding how to gain access to Carrier Discovery, please call 1-800-934-9698, and select option 5 or visit our Web site.
